i did this quote because it really made an impact on the way I see people. Animal is the best but man is the monster. We as humans know right from wrong. We have reasoning and morals while animals have instincts. We have the ability to be good but there are people in the world who go beyond a best and into a monster. People who are minipulative and self obsorbed. We have the ability to educate ourselfes and if we don't we become monsters.

~PROGRESS PHOTOS ~ I wasn't originally going to put the war paint but as i thought about it the person isn't just simple this person is complex so I wanted to make this drawing look complex. so I then decided to try to add shadows into the face and that first line down by her nose. like i said the lines across her face and also the dark chunks on the side of her eye were supposed to be shadows but they didn't turn out all that well. I used regular pencil and black and white carol for this drawing. i wish i would have left it like this almost, because i think it gets a little sloppy and not precise toward the finished piece. The reason why I did this person is because I find her to be so wise for her age and so she always sees the best in people. I never have heard anything critical come from her mouth. She always see the good in everything and everyone no matter how they are actually perceived to be. I did the war paint because she is a fighter, even though she is kind and free she can have passion and fight while being still. I also put this on here because it reminds me of people who are selfless enough to fight for out country and put their lives on the line for others they don't even know exist and I did that also because it reminds me of her- selfless.
I did only the eye because it is my perception of her perceiving the world. everything in life is through perception, and through this we judge and criticize and go in our own favor but she doesn't do that. she cares so much for others and they say that eyes are the window to the soul and I also wanted that here as well- seeing her soul. I wanted the white spots to be more white and pure looking but it didn't turn out that way. I personally tried to create a hope in this drawing, looking for the future with high hopes. having excitement. I am happy that i chose to do this, it makes you think how manny important people are in your life, and how manny people deserve to know what they mean to you- how beautiful they truly are. I looked up inspiration photos and combined them all together with the factor of each. This is a tunnel going out into the ocean with a board walk going really far out. The circle is the sun setting. when the light hits it just right It creates a good look with the shine and contrast; which is shown in the picture below. I found this quote somewhere and I really liked it. I took a razor and cut slits of different sizes into the paper to create a feeling when you touch the paper. I new I wanted to do something that went in through the paper and I'm glad I did these slits. It could have multiple meanings but to me this journal page means so many things to me. My favorite slit that I made Is the red one, it has the most meaning for the words that rotate around it and the color. How was your identity changed over time?
I think Through life experiences and going through challenges really changes a person and their perspectives on things; which also changes their identity. You choose to be some type of person whether you know it or not. I think the main part of changing your identity is following through with your new thoughts and actions and voicing your thoughts so then other will see who you are or how you have changed. It all depends of what you have gone through and how you chose to deal with it. If you could change your identity would you? why or why not? Well I mean I try to change and improve my image all the time so I think we are all capable of changing our identity. I think I do already try to make myself better all the time so I guess I am always trying to change my identity. Although at times I feel really overwhelmed with all the responsibilities that come with my identity its a good challenge and I know in the end it will only make me stronger, and hopefully it will help someone out. What makes a person who they are? friends? interests? Choices? Goals? I personally think we all become what we surround ourselves with so yes every factor that is around us goes into developing who we choose to be. It reminds me of the butterfly effect; that every choice that is made will make a ripple across time. Everything that you choose to value will go into the person you become. How does your social media image shape your digital identity? If you choose to post positive things people will see you in a positive way. but if all you do is complain about everything you will be seen in a negative way. They say your digital identity is actually your hidden true identity. so what you choose to post will display who you are. My limit was to use my left arm to paint with no gripping of the brush in my hand. So I used a ponytail/rubber band to hold my brush on my wrist. I thought of this challenge because of Close. He said that for his paintings he doesn't need to use his wrist movements for painting and I thought that was very insightful. I think these limit challenges are a very good idea because I did find myself looking for other ways to develop my art, I became more open to other styles of art. \ PROGRESS PHOTOS /
I'm a little bit of a perfectionist when it comes to the art I do and for me to do this limit was very mentally challenging for me, considering I am right hand dominant. I found myself very humbled to have to revert to a lower level of control with my movements with the brush. The the image is a girl kneeling while looking up and the thought is that her head is in the clouds. So those colors forming around her head are suppose to be clouds and I was originally wasn't going to do this but decided I didn't want to do the original thought I wanted to do and just went with this. I am glad with how it turned out and I think now I am more accepting of the mistakes I make I decided to do do the pop-up thing we saw the other day. I felt like my book needed some spice and excitement. I did 4 layers of pop-ups of different colors. The top layer I did black paper with white clouds and then I did blue paper with black clouds. then beneath those I have plain yellow then red paper to give some contrast. Then at the bottom there is black with white dots to put some interest into it. The thought of this journal page was that everything has layers, no matter what it may seem. Because when it is shut it just looks u know normal-ish, then you move a little and and It is revealed how much more there actually it; no matter how intricate and complicated it seems on the surface there is even more than you can possibly comprehend below the surface.
I suppose I have never really thought about a texture type of page and now my mind is expanded to different techniques and ideas. For the media I used black charcoal against a heater and went over in the light areas with white charcoal, Also with the colors in there I had used thin tip sharpie. I don't really know how I feel about this journal page. It kinda makes me think about different things that it could mean or what it makes me feel and I think its kinda funny how it can change with the different ideas/ feelings that I perceive it to be and yet I had made it. My initial thought for this is to have the hands of Jesus holding a floating light bulb. Jesus is the light of the world and he tells us to not hide our light and I just wanted to put that idea on paper really bad. I have been thinking of doing something like this for awhile before and then this project came and there wouldn't have been any better opportunity to do it than now. It looks similar to what I have imagined it to be like, which is good. I am glad I choose to do this image and get it out there and down on paper. For the media I used pencil.
These two pages are considered to be one journal page because I think it would be very week if they were apart; since they have the same kinds of colors and also I just wanted to pant swirls on the other page for funzies. I think this quote is very powerful. Usually when something is soaked in becomes soft. This quote just made me think allot about people and their lives and I just found it to be a great thing to think of to expand a persons understanding of others. Whether its about mental strength or physical strength or a completely different kind of thought you have, its good to think about sentences like this. I used acrylic paint and splattered the right page to get all of those speckles. Also the words were supose to be like oe of those things where the picture goes back and forth. Idk how to explain it but it didn't really turn out so I suppose that didn't go so well but I think it turned out okay. |
